The 8 ft limit comes from MAGIC’s custom booth guidelines for past editions. Ceiling heights are building measurements, not build limits. Confirm the rules in the MAGIC exhibitor manual before you design.

MAGIC Las Vegas takes place February 16 to 18, 2027, at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). If you’re planning a MAGIC trade show booth, height is the rule that shapes the design. MAGIC’s custom booth guidelines from past editions don’t allow anything in the booth to extend above 8 feet. That covers walls, furniture, lighting, truss, and audiovisual equipment.
Walls and the 8-foot limit by booth type
MAGIC’s previously published custom booth guidelines require hard walls for raw-space booths, including a back wall and two side walls. Custom fabric walls and pipe-and-drape structures are not approved under those guidelines. Exhibitors should confirm the applicable requirements for the 2027 edition before finalizing construction.
Those guidelines also require the exterior faces of back walls, and of walls that adjoin other exhibitors, to be finished, unbranded, and white, and show management does not approve grid or cardboard materials. For peninsulas, the same guidelines call for an 8-foot back wall and prefer no side walls. On an island, any walls must be 8 feet high and finished on both sides. The 8-foot cap covers signage too.
LVCC hall ceilings run from 25 to 42 feet, and the 8-foot cap applies in every hall. If you plan to reuse a custom island from another show, anything above 8 feet, such as a tower or overhead lighting truss, has to come off.
Approvals, schedule, and floor rules
New exhibitors taking raw space, and returning exhibitors who change their custom space, must submit renderings for approval before they build. The past guidelines set a January 13 deadline for the February show, and approval can take several weeks. Neon or decorative lighting on the exterior of a large raw-space booth is prohibited unless show management approves it in writing at least 30 days before the first show day. The guidelines also call for 9 inches of access space behind in-line booths and 18 inches behind peninsulas, flame-retardant construction materials, supplemental lighting ordered through the electrical contractor, and a waiver for any vehicle display.
Balloon displays aren’t permitted, and music and sound-amplifying devices are prohibited unless show management provides them. At the LVCC, only full-time employees may hand-carry items in, and hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and four-wheel carts aren’t allowed.
Booth-package move-in for the August 2026 show ran August 6 to 9. The February 2027 discounted hotel booking deadline is January 21, 2027.
Contractors and EAC rules
GES served as the general service contractor (GSC) for the August 2026 show. If you use custom booth walls, you don’t need GES labor, but an approved exhibitor-appointed contractor (EAC) is required for their installation and dismantle (I&D). Under GES’s terms for the August 2026 show, the Notice of Intent was due 30 days before move-in and the EAC’s certificate of insurance no later than 14 days before move-in. EAC staff can’t be registered for exhibitor badges. The LVCC also requires every EAC to hold the building’s annual permit and $2,000,000 in general liability coverage.
